Top Jimmy: Swarzak should replace Liriano in the rotation. Swarzak has pitched 13 innings in the major leagues. Well, okay, he's suggesting that if Swarzak continues to pitch like he has and if Liriano continues to pitch like he has, the kid should get the F-Bomb's spot.

There are the Twins starters (less R.A. Dickey!), sorted by xFIP. Liriano isn't doing all that great, but let's not start suggesting that Swarzak's been a whole lot better, good enough in two starts to take his spot in the rotation. I think in time we'll see Swazark's LOB% dip a little and the sheen will come off. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to have him succeed and be a successful pitcher. I'm just pointing out the quality of the thinking behind that column. One more thing: how sad is it that Liriano is even close to being in the position where such a column might be written?

Sometimes I think Top Jimmy gets his column ideas from the Strib comments section.
I can see where Top Jimmy is coming from; Baker has only one loss less than Liriano, so if they don't replace Liriano, then it should be Baker's spot that Swarzak takes.
Now excuse me so the doctors can finish the rest of my lobotomy.
I guess what bugs me the most about this sort of thing is that I'm not even convinced that Souhan believes what he's writing. There are a number of columnists out there who seem to write columns just to get a reaction and this smells like one of those columns.
I guarantee you that he'll be spouting the same crap on the radio this weekend.
Move Mauer to Pitcher!
Trade for Tony Pena Jr!
Or for Yuniesky Betancourt!
I meant as a pitcher.
Considering the way that Punto's hitting, TP,Jr. might be an attractive alternative.
Heh. The Orioles are about to call up Mauer-with-Power and already the rabble is calling for him to be moved to first base.
Not even good enough to play third. What a loser.
Thank you, I was just arguing about this on twinkietown, everyone thought I was stupid for not being super impressed with Swarzak. I need to hang out here more often.
The table is too wide to see that Swarzak has stranded 98.5% of his base runners. We are talking about small sample size here, but there's no way he's going to keep putting up the zeros that he has to this point. Which is not to say he sux, it's just to say that his results are not supported by his peripherals, which means his results are probably not going to be as impressive in the future. As for Top Jimmy Souhan, he never fails to disappoint.
Might want to fix the avatar then. Though I'll admit it has lost its shock value.
I might have to change the default to Billy Smith. Or Bud Selig.
Barreiro?
That was going to be mine, but the Nation pleaded with me not to do it.
You know, I had a different Avatar. Then I didn't log in for a while and now it's gone. I thought that maybe I changed it when I was drunk or something.
on the front page, under the Cup Of Coffee mug, there are instructions to change your avatar..unless you really love McHale
Oh I will change it. I just need to find something. I probably won't need to look to hard to find something I like more than Kevin McHale.
