That was a pretty good clip. Much better than the show I went to. I saw them at a half-full Showbox Theater in Seattle a couple years ago and it was one of the most mediocre performances I had ever seen. Apparently it was the day after one of them had a birthday so they were probably just super hungover, but it was very disappointing.
I'm glad you enjoyed it. Now post some vids!!!!
Ive had this song roaming around in my head for a few days now.
I gave it 9 stars
Great song, great album. Itunes says it's my most listened to song, though I imagine that's largely due to it being the first album I purchased upon getting my iPod.
Excellent choice. I boosted the rating so a troll could knock it down.
Oh, and they will...
These guys arrived with such breathless hype there was no way they could possibly live up to it. And they didn't. That said, they're a pretty good little rock and roll combo. Nice pick, bS.
How was St. Vincent?
Great.
"Fan Boy Gushing": that's awesome. I would have done the same.
Honestly, I'm afraid to go to First Ave. now. I feel like I'm too old because I spent so much time there as a kid and then moved away. I need someone to tell me that the attendees aren't all teenagers with fake IDs, cause that's what I remember.
You feel old??? I've been going to that club longer than St. Vincent has been alive! (She's 26.)
My problem with First Avenue (and clubs in general) is that I just don't enjoy jostling with large crowds anymore. I used to feed off that sort of thing. Now I just want a comfy seat with an unobstructed view.
I couldn't agree more.
And I'm convinced. Thanks. I will get over myself and go to First Ave. this summer. Maybe The National or Fleet Foxes.
That's why you should just shift to jazz, Bootsy. Sit in a smoky bar, nursing your scotch, groovin' with the other old people.
What is this smoky bar of which you speak?
sorry. "crowded hazy bar", I meant to say.
You mean that perfect feeling where time just slips away?
right...where you get so blown away.
Oh, and the attendees aren't all teenagers with fake IDs...
18+. Good lord.
I'm trying to decide which venue I'd like "my bands" to most play at, in the MSP.
I hate the setup at the Fine Line, but you can get damned close without fighting a mob.
The Walker theater did not make me happy.
Station 4 has a lot of character, especially if it's like a hardcore band.
The Entry has such weird angles.
I quite enjoyed the Turf the one time I saw a show there, but it's a bar with a stage, not a venue.
For some reason, I don't have a good feel for Triple Rock.
I kindof miss the Quest.
I think the Varsity is my favorite right now.
Ah, the Turf. Good times. I like to go to shows at the Cedar, pretty mellow though. 331 is free, but it's a bar with a stage too. I'm interested in what the 501 looks like, because the ownership is the same, I believe.
I saw these guys in May (I think) '07 at First Ave. Solid show. I generally really enjoy seeing shows at First Ave, but I think I'm still right in the age-range wheelhouse for that.
