This Date in Twins History: June 13
| 1991 |
Scott Erickson allowed two runs in seven innings as the Twins defeated the Yankees 10-3 to extend two winning streaks: the Twins' winning streak was extended to 12 and Erickson's streak was extended to 10. |
| 2006 |
In a duel of top pitchers, Johan Santana of the Minnesota Twins and Curt Schilling of the Boston Red Sox each allowed just one run in eight innings, but neither factored into the decision in the Twins' 5-2, 12-inning victory over Boston thanks to a walkoff grand slam by Jason Kubel. Santana struck out a season-high 13 batters over eight innings, including six of the first seven batters he faced, and then struck out David Ortiz in the fourth inning for his 1,000th career strikeout. |
Also on this date, in 1997, the Twins played their first interleague game ever. Radke beats Houston 8-1 at the Astrodome. Knobby had four hits and Molly a HR.
Moss was in the 'dome for that one. (That place sucked big time.)

dang, Moss, you get around. I imagine President Muffley gave you a sweet expense account.
Moss has gone to school at at least four institutions of higher learning, none of them within 700 miles of any of the others.
This was a guess, but I verified. The closest cities that have the schools where Moss went are 703 miles apart.
That's a hell of a guesstimation, SBG! And a hell of a memory...
Moss is pretty well settled now...just moved into a new house about three months ago. Hopefully this'll be the last move for 20 years or so. The Moss clan will have to have SBG, Lucy, and L over sometime in the not-too-distant future.
That would be cool. And you should come to the SouthEast.
Moss has actually lived and traveled on a shoestring budget for...well, forever.
For the aforementioned game, Moss was going to grad school at UT Austin at the time, and had a sister and nephew in Houston. Moss headed over there and made a weekend out of it.
That streak by Scott Erickson in 1991 was awesome. Such a shame that he could never pitch the same after the injury.
Moss remembers listening to the game where the streak came to an end (and probably got injured). Twins were leading 3-2 going into the 7th against the White Sox. Erickson was giving up lots of hits, and Moss had a feeling that bad things were going to happen and that TK should lift him. The first two guys got hits, and it went downhill from there.

He showed flashes later in the season for a game here and there, but never recaptured the ability to dominate consistently.
