SBG Convention

I'm thinking August 1, 2009 is a good day to have a convention. The Angels are in town, so we can go see Torii Hunter, if he's not nursing some injury.

    I can't believe this, but there's a chance I could make it.

I can't promise anything, but I'll see what I can do.

  • I have nothing planned that weekend right now.

  • i'm with spookymilk on the disbelief. not only will i be in town, i'll actually be in a box behind home plate.

I need to talk with WGOM Executive Convention Council (banjo) to see if this is a good weekend. I'm thinking the same plan as last year, a picnic, probably at Minnihaha Falls in the afternoon, followed by a trip via the Light Rail to the game.

Minnihaha Falls is such a fabulous place. Although I've spent the majority of my life in the Twin Cities, I only went to the Falls for the first time last year.

It is a great place for an event such as this. A good time was had by all. It's family friendly, too. Stop by, have some food, go enjoy the park if the kids get restless.

I remember the photos from last year. It looked like a great time. I'm planning on it, but the wife is VP of the UW calendar. So I have to check.

There you go, trying to mix up trouble.

To answer the question straight up, I will say that I have to be there by 6AM to secure a spot. Last year, I was a little late and got the last decent spot available. (It's like a land rush at 6AM with no reservations.) I set the picnic at 2PM, so I had to sit there by myself for about 5 hours (until Andrew showed up) and by the time we started grilling, I'd been there 8 hours. And then, the whole event went by so fast that it was over before I knew it. So, my plan this year is to start the thing at noon (but you are invited to come earlier!).

          • bring leftover brisket, dude

  • Surprisingly enough, I might actually be able to go to this.

  • I hate to be the lump of coal here but I don't like my chances.

Somebody has to participate in the game log.

      • brianS

me and FTLT will be playing the Dazz & Gordo version of "Bob" during the game, so the game log might degrade pretty quickly.

        • Degrade? That's my middle name! No, wait...

I don't think I'll be playing the silent gamelog again soon -- way too much work.

Hey, Alg -- Excessive Heat Notice in Stl area. I'm going to try and fix that before this weekend.
