Cup of CoffeeWolves lose again by 22, Kevin Love down to 17 minutes. This is the worst possible situation for the Wolves. They are driving what is left of their fan base with a tremendous stretch of terrible basketball. Their best, or second-best, player has checked out and is getting buried on the bench. I doubt that Love is in their long term plans. How's that O.J. Mayo deal looking now? Citizens Online35 Users Online WGOM Sign InLog InRetired WGOM Jokes

I'm on board for a GS.
Glad I checked before posting one. Looks like ~500 is the limit.
beat that game log like a rented mule.
If he's not throwing strikes, take, take, take!
The fastball at 1-2 really really hurts.
2 IBB?
Probably not with a 3-run lead.
Dirty Harry / disapointment.
sound off. How many citizens remembered to go to the home page to look for the emergency game log??
I didn't check, I just acted on instinct.
that's leadership, ubes. Leadership.
+2 grittiness.
and an excellent move it was.
Im not dead yet!
+1 On Kawara
I kinda did, I guess. Although, it was up when I showed up, so...
I'll admit... I glanced at the bullpen.
LOL
At least Mauer gets another PA.
does he have enough PA's to qualify for stuff yet?
Before today's game he was short 8. So, that'll be 11 with today's game, minus whatever he's got so far. I count 8 PA, so 3 left.
I'm guessing Morales gets to catch tomorrow?
Nothing like that nationally-televised game, first chance to see this big star like Joe Mauer, and it's his rest day.
where is it on national TV?
I think you have to check the local listings. In Seattle we are getting the Dodgers game.
It's the 3:00 central Fox game.
Others are:
Mets/Phillies, Astros/Giants, and Dodgers/Pirates.
So it looks like the upper Midwest game.
Gawd, what games ISN'T Fox broadcasting? I hate those guys so much.
Where you are? Twins/Tigers.
Seattle, and the listings say they are giving me the Dodgers/Padres. Tomorrow is a national holiday and 5 of 15 games are blacked out nationally.
which other game is blacked out?
Maybe MLB saying... go enjoy the holiday?
Pirates/Marlins -- the start time is 6:10 ET, which conflicts with FOX's window of exclusivity.
Maybe MLB saying... go enjoy the holiday?
But, I wanted to enjoy the holiday with a Twins win.
It's mainly just so, so frustrating to be on the West Coast, where almost all of the weekday games start too early for me to watch the start (and the day games are more like morning games), then the weekend comes and I'm free as early in the afternoon as necessary, and then the game gets blacked out.
So tomorrow in Pittsburgh, the Mets-Phillies game will be televised, but not the Pirates game. Which of course makes total sense.
Dickey's ERA still below 3.
good gawd. will this game ever end?
Mauer was an intimidating runner back when he played football! That's why you draft multi-sport athletes instead of pansy-assed college pitchers!
C'mon!! He was a skirt-wearing QB!!
It's not like he was a punter or something.
similar minds...
He was a menace on the QB draw! He was so big that he didn't run them over so much as they ran away from him in fear.
Darin Erstad played for the Huskers!
Dolsi honestly looks like he's never played this game before.
His stature also makes him look a bit like a little leaguer.
Heh. He's the anti-Almonte.
**giggles exhaustedly, on the fringe of hallucinations**
Oh, Cuddyer, what are you swinging at?!
most of those pitches were in the opposite batter's box.
I'm not sure that we can't win this game.
+double negative
Let's go, Crede! Between all or nothing, choose all this time!
Nothing.
in play run(s)!......
only a ground out.
d'oh.
crap. that was exhausting.
Well, shit.
When you're the home team, and you score in two separate extra innings, you expect a win out of the deal.
Shitshitshit. That one sucked the life out of me.
Doh! Well, it certainly turned out to be a better game than I thought when I initially tuned in. The bad start doomed us after all...
and it produced a fairly interesting win expectancy graph (via fangraphs)

That looks about right. Interestingly enough, Nathan had the highest leverage index for any of our pitchers, followed by Keppel and Dickey. For the Tigers it went Zumaya, Dolsi, Seay.
502 pitches, 325 for strikes
I really would've liked to give Dolsi two blown saves in one game.
Second one would not have been a blown save, as it was not a save situation... he was in line for the decision.
Ah, true. Forgot Tigers scored in the half-inning before he came into the game. Drat.
Is Wimbledon on yet?
I think if we would of bunted more, we would of won the game
Props to the rest of the Twins' relievers. That was a lot of scoreless innings.
I think that's the thing with these long games. In order for the game to get this long, some people on the team have to do some good things, so I can't get totally disappointed with the game.
I hear fireworks outside right now, so I assume that the game has been sufficiently blown up.
About five hours ago, I wrote that we'd break a record for number of LTEs. Turns out, I was right.
Wow...Dickey gave up more hits than every other Twins pitcher COMBINED.
That is all. Good night
Sheenie and I enjoyed all 16 innings last night. There were two men behind us with a baby who lasted the entire game. Talk about good parenting. One of them kept saying, "Melinda's going to be so pissed." I can only assume she was the mother wondering why her child was still at the Metrodome after midnight.
Boy, Delmon came sooooooo close to hitting 2 homeruns. Also, outside of Dickey, the one reliever who had nothing seemed to be Nathan. He was all over the place.
It was hilarious looking into the dugout in the 15th and seeing Gardy force Baker to go back to the locker to put on a jersey. Baker then sauntered down to the bullpen for the last inning and looked like he wanted nothing to do with the game.
Nathan's fastball was erratic, but his breaking pitch was nasty. That's what's great about Nathan...even on a bad night he's pretty effective
speaking of Nathan, how 'lights out' has he been this year. WHIP of .773. 41 K's in 32 innings. only 5 runs allowed (he has not allowed a run when a runner is on base when he comes into the game)
Nathan only pitches well in save situations. Much like Luis Ayala only pitches well when used as an eighth-inning set-up man.
good snark.
BA/OBP/SLG/K:BB BF
160/213/253/27:5 81 in save situations this year
162/205/270/14:2 39 in non-save situations this year.
let's just say that Joe Nathan is "good".
