Starters
Carl Pavano (11-10, 5.11; 4.07 FIP, 4.41 tRA)
vs
Jeremy "Not-Really-A-Jeremy" Sowers (5-9, 4.88; 4.57 FIP, 4.86 tRA)
Fun fact: Jason "absolutely awful in the field" Kubel has done better in the field than either Cuddyer or Young this year. Only 180 innings of course, but I'll take it.
Go Twins!

Verlander vs. Neimann in Tampa Bay tonight. GO RAYS!!!!
Well, that was fast half inning.
What I personally worry more about with Kubel in the field is the wear and tear on his knees.
Sure, I wouldn't want him more than a part-time outfielder either. Just found it amusing.
Heh.
Bert said Pavano is more of a fly-ball pitcher than a ground-ball one.
Career GB%:
Pavano: 45.2 %
Blackburn: 44.7 %
So, no Sizemore this year. He's having surgery on his elbow... and his groin. I'm guessing they are unrelated injuries, but I have taken an elbow to the groin before and it's no fun.
Um, that should read no more Sizemore...
Taking just about anything to the groin is no fun.
Really?
Nice to see the offense is picking it up for the stretch run. Yuck.
Good to see the boys showing so much patience at the plate tonight. At this rate Sowers should be done after 11 or 12 innings.
Personally, I am shocked, SHOCKED, to see a lineup that depends so heavily on four left-handed hitters struggling against a left-handed pitcher. Why did we depend on Delmon to be the right-handed bat to balance the lineup again?
I've been wondering that for almost two years now....
Delmon even makes sense to have in the lineup right now. Sowers is left-handed and a "finesse" pitcher.
Yeah, there's not much point in having Delmon on the team if he's not going to play in situations like this.
Yeah, there's not much point in having Delmon on the team
if he's not going to play in situations like this.So true, so true.
Well, I'm off to O'Reilly Auto to pick up some parts. I'm resurrecting our 1988 Toyota pickup that's been mothballed for more than a year. 160,000 miles, and the engine still runs like a top, but the truck bed has a bad case of oxide leprosy. Also, the spare tire holder is rusted up so bad I may just have to pick up a new spare from the junkyard and keep it in the truck bed.
Jeebus. Cabrera should have eaten that ball and saved the run.
Yep, I've seen enough for now. Try to keep it in reach, folks.
Just now, nothing seems quite as colossally irrelevant as discussing whether not not these runs are earned.
Quiet night tonight. Must be the early start plus Friday night fun.
I am WGOMing from my PS3, so I don't have much complex stuff to say.
to be honest, after Wednesday's game, I had no appetite for this one
Jeremy Sowers is shutting us down.
If only we had Delmon to save us.
Or Kubel. Same position.
I'm here...just got back from dinner. Tuned in to see Casilla do what he does so well.
Listen to Bert prattle on about defense is like listening to some corporate suit spew some company line about organizational philosophy. If I am going to be subjected to such palaver, I want to be paid for it.
Hey, man, it's silly season.
Tampa Bay strikes first... 1-0 in the top of the 3rd, 1 out, Polanco on first.
Come on Joe!
YES!
Runners at the corners, one out, Morneau up. Why am I not more optimistic about this situation?
Thank you, Justin, for showing me the error of my ways.
That's pretty much the best we can hope for out of Morneau against a lefty in September. I was fully expecting a K.
Or a weak dribbler to an infielder.
That breaking ball did not break. Way to take one for the team, Dude.
Gameday called it a 90 mph fastball...
Really? I didn't see the stadium gun, but Sower's arm motion looked like he was trying to drop a curve in there.
Also, I have 2 teenage daughters, so I'm used to being wrong about things most of the time.
Come on Cuddy.
Is Roberto Duran playing third for us now?
Simon LeBon
On an unrelated note (and since the comments on the Wellness post are locked out), I got in a nice bike ride today, about 7 miles through Elm Creek Park. Also, since becoming unemployed, I've gone from 202 lbs. to 187. My goal is to get to down to 170 and a 34" waist, since I carry most of my fat around the middle.
have you stopped eating until you get a new job???
That was a lot closer than I thought it would be. Good throw by GoGo, but not good enough.
I think I'll win a Gold Glove before Pavano does.
Who wins one first, Dirty Harry or Pavano?
who the hell is Jose Veras?
Harris might be the worst third base man of all time
Rough night for BrEndEn HErris.
You can say that again...
3 I's.
Invective, Injustice, Inane.
Hey, my internet popped up for the first time all day! I love the valley!1!!!!!1!1!
How's the game?
Hey, look at that score. I guess "bad" is the answer.
Bad may be an understatement if you look at the Indians' lineup. Yeesh.
Mauer sux.
Lilly!?? Lilly??!!
Something to break up the bad mood.
Sure could use a four run, two out rally, a la Wednesday...
GOSO.
If the Tigers win, I'd probably feel that way.
They just took a 2-1 lead in the top of the 9th.
Rays bottom of the 9th rally falls short. Aybar grounds out with runners on 2nd and 3rd.
Tigers 4, Rays 3 (F).
GOSO.
Twins teetering on the edge of being completely out of this. If they didn't still have 7 games left with the Tigers, I would say they already were out of it.Horrible night for Harris. I wouldn't be surprised to see Punto at third tomorrow or Danny Valencia. Oh wait. He's a rookie. He might make three errors in a game.
The only consolation is that we didn't give up much to get Harris.
plus you know he battles his tail off, unlike those bad-makeup guys we dumped on the Rays.
