Aragua's bats led them to their second straight victory. The Tigres pounded out 18 hits as Aragua defeated Zulia 12-6 Wednesday. A five-run fourth gave Aragua a 6-0 lead, and the game was never close after that.
Chris Carter (Mets) had four hits to lead the Tigres attack. Justin Huber was 2-for-3 with a double, an RBI, and two runs scored. Dustin Martin had his first multi-hit game of the season, going 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored. Wilson Ramos was 1-for-6 with a run and an RBI.
Jason Jones was the starter, giving up two runs on five hits and two walks in 4.1 innings. He struck out three. Frank Mata got the win, pitching 1.2 innings of shutout relief while surrendering only a walk. Edgar Ibarra faced two batters, striking out the first and giving up a single to the second.
Zulia was led on offense by Kenny Perez (Colorado), who went 2-for-5 with a home run. Freddy Ballestas (Philadelphia) was the losing pitcher.
Aragua hosts Margarita tonight.
