Mesa scored four in the second and never looked back as the Solar Sox cruised to an 11-1 victory over Surprise Friday.
Bryan Petersen (Florida) was 3-for-6 for the game. Matt Dominguez (Florida) was 2-for-3 with a pair of doubles and drove in four runs. Jose Iglesias (Boston) hit a three-run homer and drove in five. The only Twin to play on offense was Rene Tosoni, who was 1-for-6 with a run and an RBI.
Starter Steve Hirschfeld got the win, pitching three shutout innings and surrendering only one hit. Spencer Steedley followed with two scoreless innings. Blake Wood (Kansas City) was the losing pitcher for Surprise.
The AFL's Rising Stars game is tonight. Tosoni is the only Twin listed on the rosters. The game will be shown on MLB Network at 7:15 central time.
The next action for Mesa is Monday afternoon, when the Solar Sox host Scottsdale.
