I see that the Twins have been able to outright Justin Huber to Rochester. I'm not sure that that guarantees he's with us next year, but he seems like a good player to have around. With an .859 career OPS in the minors, I think he could hit a bit if given the chance, which would essentially come if Morneau gets injured again next year. And it seems unlikely that you could stash someone much better than that in the minors as an emergency backup plan.

Even more humorous is that Callaspo is being linked to a Dodger backup catcher. So basically, the Royals would take two positions in which they were competent (second base and catcher) and weaken themselves in both (by letting Olivo/Buck leave).

via Royals Review, apparently KC is shopping Alberto Callaspo:

Callaspo, 26, became expendable Friday when the Royals acquired second baseman Chris Getz from the Chicago White Sox along with third baseman Josh Fields in a trade for third baseman Mark Teahen and $1 million.

Can this possibly be true? Players on KC with a higher OPS than Callaspo's .813 in 2009: Bruce Chen 1.000/1.000/1.000 (2 PA) and Billy Butler. That's it. If I were KC, I might give him another shot this season. I don't know about his defense (-2.9 UZR/150 in ~career games at 2B), but he can hit better than our myriad 2B options (Bill James projection of .333 wOBA for 2010).
