CT, I have recently discovered the best place to eat/drink in Buffalo. Let's plan on a visit here during your next work trip.
Done. I keep trying to convince our sales staff here that there should be more companies in the Buffalo area that we need to work with, but they keep telling me I'm wrong.
It's not that (awful) Mexican place is it?
Saw a little mention of Butch Wynegar in Shooter's column. Can he really only be 53 years old?
Only 53? That seems low.
But, it's true. Man, he was 20 years old and an All-Star catcher.
so, I listened to the Beatles White Album for the first time in months last night. You know what, I made it through the entire thing without turning it off. That hasn't happened since I first bought the album some 10 years ago
speaking of music, I just discovered Lala.com recently. I approve. With this comment I think I'm going to queue up the White Album.
Secondly, I didn't realize that my favorite Pearl Jam song was a B side. Go figure.
that looks like an awesome site. Im going to dig around
By the end of the year they're gonna have an app for my phone, and at $0.10 per song, I might actually start 'buying' music. Sure I can only listen to it when on the internet, but when will I not have access?
dang, check out the Lala Music Lover uploader. If I'm understanding it correctly, I can upload my music from my home computer and I would then 'own' those songs on Lala.
"I didn't realize that my favorite Pearl Jam song was a B side"
Is it Yellow Ledbetter?
Indubitably
Have you checked out the Youtube video where they try to decipher the lyrics to Yellow Ledbetter? I can't access Youtube at work but it is hilarious. (And I love the song, too.)
Potato Wave
Obviously, being my favorite Pearl Jam, I think the song is one of the best B Sides. Ever.
To connect sub-threads... At least Pearl Jam had the decency to throw "Stupid Mop" (which I can't see as anything but a "Revolution #9" tribute) at the end of their album so I never had to listen to it.
oh man, I have spent all afternoon on LaLa
I found a song that I haven't heard in about 20 years....'Bad Time' by Grand Funk Railroad
good times
O.k. so I checked out Bad Time on Youtube because I hadn't heard that song for a while which then lead me to check out Go All The Way by the Raspberries, the video of which included the lyrics. One commenter said they always thought the line was "baby go-oh away." Which of course is the opposite of what the song is saying. I picture the dude's girlfriend playing the song to give him a not so subtle hint but he completely misses it and thinks she is breaking up with him.
The Raspberries had some great songs
For some reason, the White Album is the only album on my I-pod where I removed some of the songs to make the whole album more listenable. I know this is sacrilege, but some of those songs are so bad that they actually detract from the rest of the album's awesomeness (IMHO).
You certainly can't be referring to #9, can you?
(Actually, please don't tell me you deleted "Happiness is a Warm Gun.")
No worries, Happiness made the cut. I'm talking Buffalo Bill, Piggies, Honey Pie, Do it in the road, etc.
Heh, heh, HEH! Save it for friday, people!
I can't argue with your choices there.
I actually like number nine, number nine, number nine. I find it relaxing.
I like 'Do it in the Road'. Its 90 seconds of silliness
I like the weird, silly tracks on the White Album. Cut them out, cut the flavor.
Sometime last month I spent a half-hour trying to work out just what I'd cut to make it Teh Most Awesome Single LP/CD That EVAH Could Have Been! And it's possible to make various shorter versions, but there's always some cut tracks that I'd miss now and then, and any shortened configuration really does change the character of the album quite a bit.
If anything, I'd like to make the White Album longer! Throw on Lady Madonna, Hey Bulldog, The Inner Light, an alternate Hey Jude, Across the Universe unadorned... yeah, baby, yeah!!!! Haha!
The still warm carcass of Ken Griffey, Jr. will play for the Mariners in 2010.
The classic mistake of thinking, "This was so much fun, I can't walk away just yet."
I'm glad he came back last season, but it should've ended with his single up the middle in his last at-bat, the ovation when he was lifted for a pinch-runner, and being carried off the field after that final game of the season.
Now, I'm afraid he'll have to be carried off with an injury, or he'll have to quit like Mike Schmidt.
"Have to quit like Mike Schmidt" should be a lyric (if it isn't).
Do any citizens have experience with the iphone / att customer service? The meat family cell phone contract is up and we're contemplating switching to At&t, we had cingular way, way, way back when it was just cingular and their customer service was awful. I've heard / read several mixed reviews on the iphone's quality as an actual cell phone, but all the reviews are glowing when it comes to user interface / web / messaging.
there's a map for that.
Otherwise known as, Why I left T-Mobile.
Just look at home much bigger their America is. This obviously means they love it more.
They obviously love providing cell coverage to large areas with no people in them, too. My parents have Verizon -- it's the only way to go in ND.
Wow, there's coverage in ANWR!
Heh. Somebody wif Alaskan Nollege!!!!
T-Mobile definitely is spotty in areas (especially on county roads and in basements), but can't beat their customer service. I've been with them so long, though, that I got a great deal on my calling plan. If I did switch, I know many people that are happy with Verizon.
I enjoy terrible customer service, so I'm on Sprint. Being put on hold and transferred to a dozen different people makes me feel important. Plus, I don't get telemarketers so I need to yell at someone over the phone. It's a great outlet.
Caveat on the map: that's a Verizon map, and AT&T has already voiced anger over the misrepresentation of their coverage in Verizon ads. I know for a fact that there are serious gaps shown that do not exist in real life.
Well, the other thing is that that's a 3G map, and not everyone is all that interested in 3G coverage.
It would be funny if each company had to show a map of the coverage that they claimed by how they figured it and by how their competitors figured it.
pft. how would people get updates on their twitter account?
I have ATT and their coverage is fine w/n Twin Cities, but spotty in other areas. Big outages along the road to Winona, including along state highways in Dakota County (which, at 360,000 or so souls is, I believe, the third most populous county in Minnesota -- really, I can't drive on Highway 55 to Hastings, the county seat, without outages?). No coverage in SBGville. Now, I know you probably don't care about that, but make sure about their coverage.
We've had/have Cingular/AT&T throughout the transition, and haven't had any problems. We have spotty coverage when we go back to visit the Homeland, but I consider being outside coverage a good thing sometimes.
My roommate has an iPhone and comfortably gets service in our entire house (even the basement.) On the other hand, I have Sprint and if I'm expecting a call, I have to be careful everywhere in the house to make sure that I'm not in a dead zone, and if I'm in the basement, I have to place my phone on a window sill to get any reception at all. I'm pretty frustrated with the whole situation considering that I'm in the middle of Seattle. My roommate who has Verizon also has no reception problems in our house. Anyway, my contract with Sprint is up on the 19th, and I'll be switching. I haven't found a plan that suits me that well just yet, though. Verizon seems most likely to win out, though, since AT&T's $5/month text messaging plan isn't enough for me and their next-cheapest plan is $15/month.
I had Sprint before ATT and I would be rich beyond belief if I got a buck for each dropped call.
My wife's old Sprint phone also got very poor or no signal in our house and certain swaths of St. Paul.
Gleeman on his NBC site is reporting that the Reds may have to slash payroll. Wonder what we could package to get Brandon Phillips (276/.329/.447 with 20 homers and 25 steals) and his $18M salary over two years.
Glen Perkins!

Punto!
Punto and elm'n!
Too bad Krivsky isn't still there.
meat and cheaptoy: enjoy those Sac Brewing Company teeshirts. They have become collector's items.
furloughs were nothing compared to this. I'm officially sad.
So what you're saying is there's going to be cheap brewing equipment available in sac town.....
unless they've sold it off already. Brewmaster Peter Hoey has moved on to partner in the new Odonata Beer Co. venture.
Dang, that's a shame. I really enjoyed that beer I had from them. I shall continue to wear my shirt proudly.
On my way to the Caucus!
yeah, me neither...
The diaspora needs a virtual caucus.
the Timberwolves are playing some dude I have never heard of . Dawai is his name. He is a big dude.
