A fifth-inning two-run homer by Ronny Cedeno (Pittsburgh) gave the Tigres a lead they would never relinquish as Aragua defeated Lara 4-1 Tuesday night.
Hector Gimenez and ex-Twin Alex Romero each went 2-for-4 for Aragua. Yangervis Solarte was 1-for-3 with a triple. Jason Pridie and Wilson Ramos were each 1-for-4. Seven players had one hit apiece for Lara, and all the hits were singles.
Ex-Twin Yohan Pino (Cleveland) pitched six innings, giving up a run on seven hits to get the win. Raul Rivero (Baltimore) took the loss for Lara. The temperature in Lara at game time was 86 degrees.
The win moves Aragua up to a tie for sixth place with Lara. Aragua begins a two-game series with Caracas tonight, with the first game to be played in Caracas.
