Jose Castillo went 4-for-5 with two home runs to lead Caracas over Aragua 5-2 Thursday night.
Six Caracas pitchers limited the Tigres to only three hits. Two of those hits were home runs, one by Wilson Ramos and one by Ronny Cedeno (Pittsburgh), both in the first inning. Ramos was 1-for-4 for the game. Yangervis Solarte was 0-for-2. Jason Pridie was 0-for-1, and was apparently injured chasing down a triple by Rusty Ryal (Arizona) in the second inning. He played one more inning and then was replaced; there was no word on what the injury was or how serious it might be.
The winning pitcher for Caracas was Ronald Uviedo (Pittsburgh), who retired all four batters he faced. Juan Gutierrez (Arizona) pitched a perfect ninth, striking out two, to get the save. Seth Etherton (Arizona) took the loss for Aragua.
The loss dropped Aragua back into a tie for sixth with Lara. Aragua hosts Zulia tonight.
