Tigres Tales

Aragua swept a doubleheader from Caribes, winning 4-2 and 3-0 Sunday.

In game one, Yangervis Solarte went 2-for-2 with an RBI and Hector Gimenez (Pittsburgh) was 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI to lead the Tigres.  Wilson Ramos was 1-for-3 with an RBI double and scored a run.  Luis Alen (Mets) was 2-for-2 with an RBI to lead Caribes.

Rommie Lewis (Toronto) pitched a scoreless inning of relief to get the win.  Victor Moreno pitched two shutout innings to get his seventh save.  Fernando Nieve (Mets) took a complete game loss for Caribes. 

In the nightcap, ex-Twin Luis Rodriguez (Cleveland) went 3-for-3 with a double and two runs.  Ronny Cedeno (Pittsburgh was 2-for-2 with an RBI.  No Twins propsects helped the offense, as Wilson Ramos was 0-for-3 and Yangervis Solarte and Jonathan Goncalves were each 0-for-1.

A Twin helped on the mound, though.  Jhon Garcia started and pitched 3.2 scoreless innings, giving up only two hits and striking out four.  Josh Ellis (Arizona) got the win with 1.1 innings of scoreless relief.  Eduardo Sanchez pitched two perfect innings to get the save.  Jeff Farnsworth was the losing pitcher for Caribes.

The doubleheader sweep moved Aragua into fifth place, only one game behind fourth-place Margarita with two games to play.  The Tigres are off today.  They will travel to Caracas tomorrow night.
