This Puckett estate is getting ugly. The executor and Kirby's agent apparently slipped Kirby's fiancee, Jodi Olson, some money right before Kirby died. Kirby's ex-wife is trying to get the executor, Brian Woods, disqualified, despite Kirby's statement in his will that he be the executor because of the last minute money exchange. She's played the "not in the best interests of the children" card, a pretty effective argument in family law matters. Tonya Puckett is in a very strong legal position with the will not naming Olson. At some point, though, she should think about this. She's spending good money on legal fees and every time she makes a move, her children's names show up on the front page of the local newspaper. I think that she should try to come up with a settlement with Olson. I don't know the size of the estate, but a six figure settlement would keep her kids out of the newspaper and would be a relatively minor (I think) portion of the estate. It would also cut down on the legal fees. Of course, I don't know what's actually going on. Maybe she's tried to deal with Olson. Regardless, it's not pretty. A dispute is brewing over Kirby Puckett's ashes. Here's an idea. Bury them. Or spead them out somewhere during a private gathering of those closest to him. But, for God's sake, don't fight over them. When I heard about Puck's death, I was really upset because it had seemed to me that for all the joy Kirby had brought people, he seemingly had spent his last days as a bitter man. Top Jimmy tells us that Puck was enjoying life. Honestly, this makes it easier for me to accept. Of course, he died too young. That goes without saying. But, I'm glad that he was able to find some peace in his life. |
