• From the If You Repeat it Often Enough, It Becomes the Truth Department: I heard the following on ESPN radio tonight (don't know who said it). Joe Mauer won the Gold Glove this year.
• BabySBG is halfway here. I'm telling you that she'll be a Twins fan. And a Daddy's girl.
• Marc Stein [...]

• Seen on a T-Shirt this afternoon: "There are 10 types of people in the world. Those who get binary and those who don't."
• Had some comments in moderation today. I used the word "crapshoot" in a post. Comments posted using that word and my spam checker nailed them. Sorry.
• Oakland last won [...]

Open Bar — Sunday Night

• Lucy and I had a nice day today. We ran some errands, did some chores around the place, took a nap, relaxed, etc. In a sense, there is some relief that the baseball season is over. I enjoyed the season tremendously, but a little time with the wife is a good thing, [...]

• First of all, I want to thank all of you for the kind words about the site. I can assure you that no one enjoyed this site more than I did this summer. The cast of characters made this a truly enjoyable ride. Many times Lucy said in disgust, how come you [...]

• Twins lose. Season done. Sigh.
• Tigers lead Yanks 3-0 in the fifth. Not all is wrong with the world, at least at this minute.
What'll you have?

• The Tigers evened the series with the Yanks today. That was a big deal, not only because they have wrested home field advantage from the Bombers, but for their own confidence. Beating the Yanks three times is a tough proposition, but it's not impossible. Joel Zumaya can bring it. Verlander is [...]

• I do believe that I need a drink.
• First, let me talk about the server issues. The server was down three different times today. I woke up to write my “Cup of Coffee” post and the server was down. I got the game log posted, but about the time that Torii Hunter blew [...]

• Well now. That was disappointing. I guess we all figured Game 1 was ours. Now we need someone else to step up. Like Boof.
• Nick Punto should be fined for sliding into first base. That's my latest determination.
• I hear that there other playoff games going on outside of [...]

• One of Lucy's friends is a season ticket holder and she called tonight to offer me a ticket to the Wednesday afternoon game. Damn. I'm going to have to take her up on it.
• The server outage on Sunday was rather unfortunate, and I don't really know what happened. I don't [...]

Detroit can clinch with a win tonight. So what are they doing? Laying down against the Royals. It's 7-0 in the first inning.
Holy Christ, the Twins are going to have a chance to win the division on the last day.

Twins win a thriller! It's the first time the Twins have been in first place all season! Jason Bartlett with the game winner and the cap does its job.

I'm still recovering from the all night workathon the other night. Time for me to go to bed. You all have the floor. [...]

A nice win for the team, I hope they keep it up.

Cue the Barry Manilow... Looks like we made it!!!!!
The Twins have clinched a spot in the post season tournament and sit one game behind the idle Detroit Tigers with six games to play. This is not over, folks!

The magic number to clinch the Wild Card is two.
• No offensive touchdowns for the Vikings in a home loss to the Bears.
• Chris Simms has emergency surgery to remove his spleen after he ruptured it in Sunday's game. Simms likely ruptured it in the second quarter and played the rest of the game. [...]

• Not good start by Scott Baker on Saturday, but the Twins bats bailed him out. Torii Hunter, who has been absolutely fantastic in September, tied his career high in HRs with 29. He now looks like a shoo-in for 30 HRs.
• Reusse suggests that the Twins consider starting Groundskeeper Willie in the playoffs against [...]

Another loss tonight. I didn't see much of the game, but I sure didn't like the way the bullpen let down. Oh well, can't win 'em all.
The Tigs are leading KC 4-3 in the sixth. The Mariners are leading the White Sox 7-4 in the fifth.
The bar is open.

Here's an interesting story about Paul Byrd and his elbow. His ulnar collateral ligament was split lengthwise as opposed to being torn. He had the Tommy John surgery and he recommends that the F-Bomb get down to Dr. Jobe and get checked out.
It seems to me that a lot of the [...]

Another terrific win tonight!
Let's see. Bonser is effective again, the Twins offense awakens after Schilling leaves and Torii Hunter explodes. Two hits for Joe Mauer with two hits, Cuddyer with three.
The Twins can mathematically eliminate the Red Sox tomorrow night.
What about the bullpen? What are your thoughts? Crain and [...]

What'll you have?
So, as of tonight, who is the Twins MVP?
Joe Mauer?
Justin Morneau?
Johan Santana?
I'm going with Mr. Santana myself.
One more thing to chew on: The Twins are 76-0 when leading after eight innings. They are 27-1 in the last 28 games in which they have scored four runs or more.
